Chaldean Church of Šim‛ūn al-Safā (Simon the Elect); Probably the courtyard which was also used as a cemetery , Southwest of Old Mosul

(1-5) O Chaldeans be vigilant and think about death! Do not be entangled in temporal pleasure but seek your salvation! Recall Rūfā’ēl of Amida, and pray for him so that his Lord who has called him may kindly have mercy on him and forgive his sins. During all the years of his life, the Deacon worked hard and laboured virtuously, (6-10) making firm the Catholic faith in every good way. Here he founded for us a press house and schools, and under vows he devoted all his possessions in their support. He kept his chastity in a whole ascetic way, praying and working hard; he did not revel in ephemeral things but disdained the world. (11-15) After he laboured in the vineyard of his Lord, completing fifty years, he surrendered his soul in joy, and we cried over him much. He opted for a grave in (the church of) Simon Kēpā (Simon Peter) among the Ninevites, for a feverish sickness has carried him away, and our nation is saddened over him. The year of his death (is known) when she (=our nation) 103 shouts until resurrection, saying (with the Lord): (16) Well done Rūfā’ēl! Rejoice with the watchful angels, servants of the Son.
