(1-5) I am the resurrection and Life and he who believes in me though he dies will live (Jn c[hapter] 11). O Firdawsā, may the Lord of all souls have mercy on you and may he place you in Paradise with the righteous women—repeat. Lo your two sons Aliās and Antūn are sad (6-10) on account of your departure, and with tears they pray. The grandsons, the rest of the relatives along with the Bishop mention you in their prayers to the Holy One. You have left the loved ones, young and old, and your daughters-in-law lament over you day and night. As for your young Antūn, he restlessly cries and laments (11-15) with a sad face because of you. Lord, give your maid a habitation in your Paradise in the company of Mary and Anna and the rest of your women servants. Protect her children so that they may be in the love and blessing of the innocent ones through your grace. (Syr.) The honourable Firdaws, wife of the respectable Patrōs Bazzō‛ī Kayyātā, died in Ādār (March) (16-18) the 10th in it, the year 1869 of our Lord. Antūn and Aliās her sons, Mār Gīwargīs ‛Abd-Īšō‛ the Metropolitan and his brothers the sons of her son Aliās, buried her and cried over her: (Arab.) The year 1869 of Christ.
