Inside the church , Karamlēs

(1-5) Here is laid a reverend Father, a laborious and chosen priest, a chorepiscopos of a beautiful name: Patrōs of Karamlēš. People of sound mind and lucid and pure intellect: Listen to the story of this deceased one of ours— brilliant and truthful priest. His father was a widower and raised him blamelessly. (6-10) When he reached the age of thirty years he chose the sublime (priestly) rank. He received the full ordination during the days of Pius the Ninth and Yawsep Audō the Sixth, the Chaldean Patriarch. He served his office perfectly, in zeal and with an ardent heart; he strove for the salvation of people until his last breath. (11-15) He was a compassionate leader, a skilled and marvelous teacher, a preacher taken by tears and by the praise of the Lord’s Mother. He was passionate about the worship of the Creator, the dignity of the Church of the Son of the Living One, fitting organization of the school, and the offering of appropriate help. And thus he spent the years—forty-four—proudly armed, (16-20) labouring in the living vineyard, uprooting strange grass. When 215 the time of the final end—a divine decree—came, his Lord called him from the heaven of heavens, saying: Come and join the chosen ones! I beg every Christian who enters the church of the illustrious martyr, to utter the Lord’s Prayer for the soul of our esteemed priest (who died) (21-24) in the year 1917 of the Lord—according to the Christian era—on the first day of Ādār (March), month of the tender grass: (He is) the Chorepiscopos Patrōs Jajjō of Karamlēš, 1 Ādār (March) the year 1917.
