Hover a word for its meaning. Glosses draw on Amir Harrak’s translations and the SEDRA 3 Syriac lexicon (Beth Mardutho), used for academic purposes.

(1-5) Grave became a little house for you, my son! In sadness, the dead who reclined themselves with you, drink in array at the drinking-banquet the wine which death has pressed with avidity. May your Lord who gives life make you worthy to enter the Kingdom. (6-10) The attractive and handsome boy Yūhannā son of Tūmō of the family Bēt-Hannī-Sōnah died. He departed in the month of Ōdōr (March), feast of Saint Joseph, falling on the 19th day of the same month. He who (says: May God) pardon (him), he will be pardoned: 1890 of Christ.
