English Translation

(1-5) This epitaph is in the metre of Mōr Ephrem xxx. In the name of God the Living and who gives life to the dead: A virtuous and sincere young man xxx. He is (6-10) Yaldō the Deacon who left the earthly world, departing to the spiritual one. He was killed at the hands of Turks without mercy and pity. He was cut into pieces by the Romans, and he had [no] helper. He was killed outside his village while his parents were not aware of him, nor did his kinsmen or his brothers (11-14) or his relatives hear about him. It was in the year 1881 according to the computation of Alexander the (Two)-Horned. Let the one who reads this epitaph say: May the Lord pardon him. He was killed on the 25th of First Tešrīn (October).
