English Translation

(1-4) In the name of the Living God, Trinity and One, whose throne is in Heaven, and whose dwelling is the magnificent light. He is the first and the last, and his being has no beginning. (5-10) Our venerable and blessed Father, Mār Ēwannīs Bishop Karas—beautiful of name, sweet of melody, and a teacher of the Truth—left the earthly world, departing to the spiritual one. The year was 2058 of Greece, 20 Nīsōn (April). He was the son of Mār-Bihnām the believer, of the Yaġmūr family, from Bēt-Kudēdā.
