English Translation

(1-4 Garsh.) The renovation of the foun[tain] of the small pa[rk and the garden, and the over]laying [of the] road, which […] passes [above] the monastery by the cell of Bar-Hebraeus [and als]o by the tomb stone of the holy Mattā took place in the year 2012 of the Greeks, at the hands of the humble Bishop Mattā son of the (Jerusalem) Pilgrim ‛Āzar. (5-8 Syr.) Our illustrious Father Mōr Mattai, who is on Mount Alfāf, left this [difficult] world, departing to the pl[ace of jo]y on the 18th day of Īlōl (September) in the year six hundred and twenty-[two of the Greeks]. (9) With you we will overcome / our enemies / and on account of your name / we will trample our foes.
