English Translation

(1–5) Metre of (Mōr) Ya‛qūb: This is the grave of Mōr Qūrillōs of advanced age—Bishop Aliās who administered the diocese for fifty years. His departure took place during the night of the feast of the Living Cross, in the year 1921 according to the reckoning (6-8) of Christ. He was gentle, calm, and patient, not quarrelsome but behaved in meekness and with a serene heart. In origin, he was of Mosul.
