(Arab.) Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his faithful ones: Psalm 116 verse 15.
(Syr. 1-5) Metre of Mōr Ya‛qūb: O Creator who created every human from the nature of the dust, pardon your priest who celebrated the adored mysteries of the Son. He is Priest ‛Abd-al-Ahad who is laid down in this grave, the son of the late Gōrgīs, the respectable one: (6-10) “I came into the world in the year 1853 of Christ, and in the year 1873 of this era I became priest. In the year 1921 I departed from it (=the world), and experienced death, after I built this church and (its) cells. Remember me, my brothers and children, in the offering of the holy sacrifice (11-13) and do not forget me in the prayers forever. I have hope and faith that they, and nothing else, are profitable for the forgiveness of the living and the dead.
