(1-5) This church named after our Lady the Virgin Mary was founded and built during the time of our lord Patriarch Īġnātiōs Antūn through the care of the Apostolic Delegate and the diligence of the honourable brothers and respectable kawajas: kawaja Hanna Šam(mās) Binnī, kawaja Tūmā and his brother Antūn, the sons of Jirjis Kassāb, and kawaja Mīkā’īl Qara-Jahannam. They gave a donation on behalf of the deceased Deacon Estēfō through the diligence of the Aaronite Priest, (6-9) Priest Ishāq son of Yūsif, the Trustee Nu‛mān Sim‛ān, and Aliās Salmān, along with the rest of the Christian people. This was in the Christian year (Arab.) 1856. (Garsh.) Kawaja Bihnān has endowed this Royal Gate on behalf of his deceased father Yūsif al-Dīk—Our Father who are in heaven, etc. Raffō of Qaraqōš and Ablahad ‛Ōdīš established <this> (inscription).
