(1-5) El, powerful God, and Lord of the created world, give rest to the child Mattā in the delightful abode—verses. He was born (in the year) 1897 of our Lord on the 6th of First Tešrīn (October). He was a beautiful boy, (6-10) beloved, fair, sweet of stature and had no rival. He was dear to his parents. This schoolboy died, leaving this world while his father was (11-12) in prison, in the month of Tešrīn (October/November) the year 1907 of the Lord.
