(1) With you we will overcome (2) our enemies and on account (3) of your name we will trample our foes. (4) In the name of the Living One who is not mortal, (5) the wealthy One who cannot be (6) impoverished. (7) Look toward him and have hope in him. (8-10) Since I—Mār Ēlīā Patriarch of the East thanks to the Grace—existed, I confessed the three qnōmē of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit—One true God (11-15) and eternal Nature. I believed in his Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, conjointly complete God and complete Man, two natures and two qnōmē in one parsōpā of one Sonship and one Will—he suffered, was crucified and was buried, but he rose up on the third day as is written, and he ascended to Heaven (16-20) to his Father. I paid homage to his living and life-giving Cross, and partook his body and blood in the hope of the forgiveness of my sins. When the ship of the body reached the safety that is in the grave, I left this world at the sign of the Most High, (21-25) on Monday after the Sunday (called) “Unending Glory,” in the month of Iyyār (May), the 26th day of it, the year 1928 of the blessed Greeks. I am looking forward to the great day of resurrection, (26-30) so that our Lord may come and have mercy on me through his mercy, through the “amen” of the entire church, so be it amen. My lord the reader: Pray, beg with a pure heart, implore and ask the Lord so that he may pardon my failures. (31-33) The end. Glory to God and upon us his mercy and compassion forever and ever.
