(1-5) Here rests in hope for the resurrection Mār Šmū’ēl Šūrīz. He was born in the village of Tall-zqīpā in the year 1917 of our Lord. He entered the monastery of the Virgin in the year 1931, and was made a monk in the year 1936 and a priest in the year 1951. He was established as the Deputy of the Monastic Order in the year 1958, and was sent for the (pastoral) mission of Qāmišlī in the year 1960. He accepted the bishopric rank from the hands of his Beatitude Mār Pawlōs II Šēkō (6-8) in the 5th (month=May), the year 1972, for the diocese of Urmia in Iran. He departed from the temporary life in the city of Rome on 15 Ḥzīrān (June) the year 1981 of our Lord. He was buried in the church of the monastery of the Virgin. May the Lord give him delight in the heavenly Kingdom.
