(1-4) (Arab.) O visitor of the individual grave of our Chorepiscopos say: O mercy of God descend over his resting place! (Syr.) Istīfānōs, a priest who shone with virtues, kept his eyes awake for sincere fasts and prayers. He benefited people with the divine sacrifices, eliminating presumptuous heresies from the churches. Who would mourn you, O virtuous priest, perfect among the priests and one who put on himself the robe of industrious deeds? (5-8) The one who with all joy multiplied the talents which his Lord had given him died today, walking through the way of all souls. He joined the (eternal) sleepers in the year one thousand eight hundred and eighty-four, 27 of Latter Kōnūn (January). The mighty Chorepiscopos Istīfānōs lived for about one hundred years. Ask the Lord to make him rejoice in Eden forever and ever. (Arab.) Pray for the late Chorepiscopos Istīfān who departed on 27 <Latter Kānūn (January)> the year 1884: May God cover him with his favour.
